Application ecosystem matters tremendously. The platform would benefit from major software vendors officially supporting and testing their applications on Plasma, rather than treating it as an afterthought compared to Windows, macOS, or even GNOME.

Corporate and institutional adoption could accelerate mainstream acceptance. Getting Plasma deployed in government offices, educational institutions, or enterprises would provide both validation and resources for development. This requires long-term support commitments, professional support channels, and proven track records in production environments.

Plasma needs consistent financial support and full-time developers working on polish, bug fixes, and user experience rather than just features.
