If you've been reading articles here on Square for a while, you've likely come across posts with technical analysis for SOL or ETH that looks perfect. Suddenly, the chart moves in the opposite direction, melting down or exploding without warning, completely ignoring all supports and resistances.

The explanation is simple: the macro market is dictated by Bitcoin, and that is why most of these posts are meaningless nonsense.

1. The Gravity of Bitcoin (BTC)

Solid, high-capitalization cryptocurrencies like $BNB , $SOL , and $ETH possess incredible fundamentals, but they do not live in a bubble. They orbit Bitcoin. As demonstrated by the image just generated, showing a period containing charts for these assets, the visual correlation is undeniable.

Notice how the structure of the top-heavy decline replicates almost symmetrically across all three altcoins:

  • BNB: Follows the exhaustion trend.

  • SOL: Presents the same sharp correction.

  • ETH: Maintains the pattern of synchronized selling candles.

2. The Myth of Isolated Analysis

Many beginner traders make the strategic error of focusing 100% of their study solely on the chart of the single coin they want to trade.

The reality is harsh: Any technical study that takes into account only the isolated movement of SOL, ETH, or BNB generally possesses low predictive value if the BTC context is ignored.

If Bitcoin decides to seek liquidity below a major support level, it will 'pull the rug' out from under any buy setup in altcoins, regardless of how 'beautiful' the altcoin chart may look.

3. The Exception: Decoupling via Fundamentals

There is only one scenario where this golden rule is broken: decoupling motivated by high-impact news.

A network upgrade (like The Merge on ETH), a massive BNB burn, or a disruptive partnership on the Solana network can generate enough buying power for that specific coin to rise while BTC moves sideways or falls. This is why paying attention to specific coin news—like the recent events on the Solana network—is very important.

Outside of these specific, time-limited events, the market moves as a block.

What I Follow as my Golden Rule

To increase the success rate when trading serious altcoins, I analyze BTC first. It is the thermometer of global risk sentiment.

I use altcoins specifically to amplify gains. I look at SOL, for example. It typically has higher volatility (high beta), rising more during pumps and falling harder during corrections, but always following the primary trend.
