Apple Pulls Jack Dorsey's Bitchat From China App Store on CAC Order

According to Cointelegraph, Apple has removed Jack Dorsey's messaging app Bitchat from China's App Store following a demand by the Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC).
Dorsey disclosed the removal by sharing a screenshot of Apple's notification letter on X. The letter states that the app violates Article 3 of China's Provisions on the Security Assessment of Internet-based Information Services with Attribute of Public Opinions or Capable of Social Mobilization. The app's TestFlight version has also been made unavailable for internal and external testing in China, with all public TestFlight links rendered non-functional. Bitchat remains available in all other territories where it was previously listed.
Bitchat, launched in mid-2025 by Dorsey's Permissionless Tech, is a decentralized peer-to-peer messaging application that lets users chat peer-to-peer over Bluetooth without internet or servers.$BTC
