President Donald Trump said in remarks at Mar-a-Lago on Monday that he would "probably" bring a lawsuit against Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell for "gross incompetence."

"And it was his baby," Trump said, without explaining what that meant, perhaps indicating the budget overrun on the Fed's renovation project.

In addition, he said he'll probably announce his nominee for the Fed chair role in January. He also added that Powell should resign from his role of Fed board governor when his chair term ends in May. Trump once again brought up the possibility of firing Powell, but noted, "but we're so close... maybe, I still might."
