Sui, which is one of the newer high-performance blockchain networks vying for attention at Layer 1, experienced a failure on May 28, 2026. That day, for approximately 6 hours, no transactions were being processed. This type of incident creates headline news and has the potential to impact token pricing; however, this event was resolved very methodically and in accordance with best practices such that no users lost any funds.
Approximately 30 minutes after the start of trading (Pacific Time), Sui’s validators - those computer systems whose responsibility it is to confirm and process all valid transactions on the network - began ceasing production of new blocks. Anybody who was viewing their Sui blockchain explorer would see the exact same block stuck on their screen for hours. As you can probably imagine, if you are currently waiting for your transaction to complete on Sui, this situation is quite frightening.
