I keep thinking about OpenGradient differently than most people.

At first, it looks like another AI + crypto project. I don't think that's the interesting part.

The real question is trust: Did the AI actually do what it claimed?

AI doesn't fit neatly on-chain. Models are too large, GPU compute is expensive, and private inputs can't be fully exposed.

What stands out about OpenGradient is that it doesn't force one machine to do everything. GPU nodes run models, full nodes verify proofs, data nodes improve external inputs, and storage handles what doesn't belong on-chain.

It's not a perfect solution. Data nodes are still rolling out, ZKML remains difficult at scale, and TEE-based systems have trade-offs.

But that's what makes it interesting. The future of on-chain AI may not be about eliminating trust—it may be about knowing exactly where trust exists and designing around it.
