The United States says its military action was a response to Iran's alleged attacks on merchant vessels in the Strait of Hormuz, accusing Tehran of violating the ceasefire first.

In response, Iran launched retaliatory missile and drone strikes targeting U.S.-linked military facilities in Kuwait and Bahrain. Tehran also accused Washington of undermining the ceasefire and ongoing diplomatic efforts.

At this stage, neither the United States nor Iran has officially announced the termination of the ceasefire agreement. However, with both sides actively resuming military operations, the ceasefire appears to be rapidly deteriorating and could collapse if the current escalation continues.
