EthLabs has launched as a new nonprofit research organization focused on advancing Ethereum’s technical roadmap with a stronger emphasis on real-world adoption. The group unveiled itself one day before major layoffs at the Ethereum Foundation and days after co-executive director Hsiao-Wei Wang said she would resign, according to CoinDesk, amid broader turnover that has seen at least nine prominent Ethereum Foundation members depart since January.
Executive director Ansgar Dietrichs, a former Ethereum Foundation researcher, said EthLabs is meant to complement—not replace—the foundation by filling adoption-oriented gaps such as scalability, layer-1 performance and interoperability.
