Binance just gave us access to 7,000+ US stocks and ETFs. That's huge. But it also opened up a question I haven't been able to stop thinking about.
I've been in crypto for a while. I understand volatility. I understand holding through pain. But US stocks feel different, especially ETFs.
Here's what I genuinely want to understand:
If you're building long-term wealth and you had to choose between holding a broad-market ETF like SPY or QQQ versus picking individual US stocks, which strategy actually wins over 10–20 years, and why?
Is consistent ETF investing really better than researching and picking a concentrated portfolio of strong individual companies? Or is the data just telling us most people can't beat the index, not that it's impossible?
I'm asking because I don't want to just park money. I want it to grow. And I'm trying to figure out if ETFs are the smart disciplined choice, or just the "safe" choice people make when they don't trust themselves.
Would love to hear from experienced investors. What's your actual strategy, and has it worked?
