The network
#Ethereum is one of the hottest environments for crypto applications, but it has been slow and costly at times. To tackle this issue, developers have created "layer 2" blockchains (also known as rollups). They are like fast lanes built on top of the Ethereum network to handle the heavy congestion.
However, a new problem arose: these fast lanes don’t communicate with each other. So if you have funds on one layer 2 network (like
#Arbitrum ), it can be tricky to use them on another (like
#Optimism ). Most of these chains rely on a single computer (a centralized sequencer) to arrange transactions, which can pose a security risk.
@Espresso was built to address these issues via a shared sequencing network. You can think of it as a global traffic controller managing transactions for all these different blockchain chains, tying the whole ecosystem together.
