The moment AI agents start trading with each other autonomously, most current attribution systems collapse instantly.
And I honestly don’t think the industry is prepared for that yet.
Right now, people still talk about AI like it’s just a tool.
But the moment agents begin:
• purchasing datasets
• negotiating services
• coordinating tasks
• exchanging value autonomously
the entire economic layer underneath AI changes completely.
Because suddenly the biggest problem is no longer intelligence.
It’s proving where value actually came from.
That realization hit me hard while exploring ecosystems like @OpenLedger
At first, I mostly viewed the AI + DePIN narrative as infrastructure speculation.
Now it feels much bigger than that.
The deeper AI scales, the more invisible human contribution becomes:
dataset refinement,
workflow optimization,
evaluation systems,
niche coordination,
community knowledge.
Thousands of overlapping contributions happening simultaneously.
And honestly, I’m not sure current internet infrastructure can track any of it properly once AI agents start interacting economically at scale.
That’s the scary part.
Autonomous AI economies may scale faster than humanity’s ability to verify attribution itself.
If that happens:
• ownership becomes blurry
• contribution becomes invisible
• value distribution becomes extractive
• centralized systems absorb everything upward again
And maybe that’s why OpenLedger started feeling genuinely important to me beyond the usual crypto narrative.
Not because decentralization magically solves coordination problems.
But because ecosystems built around:
• attribution
• transparent contribution
• verifiable participation
• persistent coordination
might become necessary infrastructure once AI agents stop behaving like software…
and start behaving more like economic actors.
The weird thing is, most people still seem focused only on model intelligence.
Meanwhile the economic layer underneath AI may already be quietly breaking in slow motion.
That feels like a much bigger problem long term.
Curious if anyone else thinks decentralized attribution systems become unavoidable once AI agents begin transacting with each other at scale.
