🇧🇷 Brazil wants to be able to freeze suspects' cryptocurrencies even before a conviction.

Brazil's Chamber of Deputies has taken an important step in the fight against cybercrime.

A bill approved by the Finance Committee would allow courts to order the freezing of crypto assets held on exchanges, as well as traditional bank accounts, when an individual is under investigation for cyber-related offenses.

The proposal also seeks to increase the maximum prison sentence for certain computer crimes from 8 to 10 years.

This initiative is part of a broader global trend aimed at extending to digital assets the same seizure and freezing tools already used in traditional financial investigations.

In the short term, the market remains risk-off on the major assets:

🔴 Ethereum: -$257M with 17 consecutive days of outflows

In Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania, the 79-year-old woman received an alarming message on her device claiming to be from Microsoft and urging her to call a support number.

During the call, a fake technician told her that her computer had been severely compromised and convinced her to pay $10,000 in Bitcoin to fix the issue.

Authorities remind the public that Microsoft never asks for cryptocurrency payments to secure a device, and that any urgent message requesting you to call a number or send funds should be treated as suspicious.
