They should respond to whether the network is actually underused, approaching productive balance, or entering a more mature phase where aggressive issuance becomes less necessary. That shifts inflation from being a passive release schedule into something closer to an economic steering tool.
That thesis matters because Fabric is not trying to fund a simple consumer app. It is trying to coordinate machine activity, operators, and task execution in a system where the wrong incentive shape can distort everything upstream. If the reward layer is badly tuned, the network may attract the wrong capacity, the wrong behaviors, and the wrong kind of growth. A machine economy cannot rely on vibes for resource allocation. It needs tighter operating logic.

Now imagine a later stage. Usage becomes steadier. Core operators are established. The network no longer needs the same level of subsidy to keep critical activity online. In that world, emissions slowing down is not a bearish signal. It is the controller recognizing that constant acceleration is no longer useful. That is the part many token systems never learn. They keep paying like a startup in panic mode even after the conditions have changed.
If Fabric can make that transition cleanly, it would matter for more than just token optics. It would suggest a more mature way to coordinate supply with actual network conditions. Crypto-native readers should care about that because emissions are not just a treasury issue. They shape who joins, who stays, what behavior gets rewarded, and how much fake activity the system can tolerate before it starts confusing subsidy for product-market fit.
But the tradeoff is real, and I do not think it should be softened.Policy errors can still destabilize behavior even when the policy looks elegant. A controller is only as good as the variables it reads and the assumptions built into it. If underuse is measured badly, the network could respond to noise instead of reality. If participants know how to trigger higher emissions without creating real value, the controller becomes a farmable surface. If the slowdown phase comes too early, the network may lose momentum before it has genuine resilience. If it comes too late, the system may lock in dependency on rewards that were supposed to be temporary.
That is why I do not read this as “Fabric solved token inflation.” I read it more as Fabric recognizing that inflation is an operating system problem, not just a distribution problem.That distinction is important. The architecture is interesting, but the operating details will matter more. If inflation really becomes a coordination tool instead of a marketing script, Fabric may be onto something. The claim is simple: general-purpose chains may be good enough for early experimentation, but not necessarily for a machine economy where identity, task coordination, payments, and skill distribution all have to work together. That is the deeper bet here. 
You can see the logic in phases. Early components live on existing chains because that is the fastest way to test demand.
