Crypto, however, remains the missing piece. As of November 18, 2025, no cryptocurrency payments are live on X, and users cannot transact with Bitcoin, Ethereum, or even Dogecoin. Musk continues to tease future integration, calling crypto a likely part of the app’s payment “rails,” but no timelines or supported coins have been confirmed. Most leaks point to a potential phase-two rollout sometime in late 2025 or 2026.
The delay is intentional, driven by regulation and safety concerns. As Musk puts it, “We must get fiat right first—people’s money requires extreme care.”
