I think some projects demand your attention immediately. Midnight was not one of them for me. It grew on me slowly and honestly that made me trust it more.
On the surface it seems straightforward. Zero knowledge proofs keeping data private while the system keeps functioning normally. But the deeper you sit with it the less simple it becomes.
This is not really about hiding data. It is about control. Deciding what gets revealed and what stays private. That shift changes the entire trust dynamic between a user and a system.
Blockchains were built on radical transparency. Midnight is pushing toward selective visibility. That tension raises questions nobody has fully answered yet. Who decides what stays hidden. Where does legitimate privacy end and misuse begin.
I do not think Midnight has proven all of this yet. But it does not feel like empty hype either.
That in between space is exactly where the most interesting things in this industry tend to start.
