🚨 Don't Let Scammers Poison Your Wallet
You double-check the lock on your door. Do you double-check your crypto addresses?
Address poisoning is one of the sneakiest scams in crypto and it's catching people off guard. Here's how it works:
1️⃣ A scammer monitors your public transaction history
2️⃣ They generate a fake wallet address that looks almost identical to one you've used before — matching the first and last few characters
3️⃣ They send a tiny, harmless transaction from that fake address to your wallet
4️⃣ Your "recent recipients" list is now poisoned
5️⃣ The next time you copy-paste from recents without verifying
The attack requires no malware and no phishing link and the damage is irreversible.
In May 2024, one trader lost $68 million in $WBTC this way.
How to stay safe:
🔸 Always verify the full address — every single character
🔸 Never blindly copy from your recent transaction history
🔸 Save trusted addresses in a verified address book
🔸 Use QR codes when possible
🔸 When in doubt, send a small test amount first
Blockchain transactions cannot be undone. A five-second check can protect everything you've built.
