$BTC Bitmain’s Major Mining Rig Price Cuts: A Signal of an Industry Winter?

Bitmain, the world’s largest mining rig manufacturer, has rolled out significant price cuts on its S19 and S21 series. The latest immersion-cooled S21 models are now priced as low as $7/TH/s, with some batches even shifting to a buyer-bidding model.

The backdrop is increasingly challenging: hashprice has dropped to a multi-year low of $35/TH/s/day, falling below the estimated $40 breakeven level. The impact of the 2024 Bitcoin halving, combined with rising energy costs, has further squeezed miner margins. At the same time, BTC has declined from $126,000 to $80,000, pushing miners into one of the darkest periods in recent years.

The key question now: is this a rare bottom-buying opportunity for mining rigs, or the start of a broader industry shakeout?
