This is a massive shift from research to aggressive engineering. They're prepping for post-quantum transactions with new precompiles, account abstraction, and transaction signature aggregation. Multi-client consensus testnets are already running. Two $1M prizes are up for grabs: the Poseidon Prize and the Proximity Prize. This is a strategic investment in hash-based cryptography to ensure $ETH remains secure against future quantum threats. They are aiming for zero fund loss and zero downtime.
