Burning 90% of $LUNC : Reality Check
Burning a huge portion of $LUNC often seems like an ideal solution. On the surface, it makes sense—fewer coins should lead to higher prices. But looking closer at the numbers tells a different story.
Before the collapse, LUNA’s total supply was around 300 million coins. After the crash and massive minting, the supply skyrocketed to nearly 6.8 trillion LUNC. That enormous increase is the main problem.
Now, imagine an extreme scenario: burning 90% of the total supply. This would remove roughly 6.12 trillion coins. Even after such a massive burn, about 680 billion coins would still be circulating.
Yes, this is a significant reduction compared to today. But it’s still enormous compared to established crypto projects.
Here’s a reality check: for LUNC to reach $1 with 680 billion coins in circulation, the market cap would need to hit $680 billion—bigger than Bitcoin and rivaling companies like Apple and Google. Achieving this through burning alone is unrealistic.
The uncomfortable truth is that burning alone doesn’t create real value. Numbers don’t respond to hope, and markets don’t move on emotions. Prices follow economic reality.
What truly shapes a project’s future is real utility—actual demand, active users, and a network that people need. Gradual burns linked to real activity can help, but only if the ecosystem is growing.
Burning is a helpful tool, but it’s not the foundation. Building comes first.
The real question isn’t how fast we can cut supply.
The real question is whether we can create something that lasts.
