An official from the Iranian Oil, Gas, and Petrochemical Export Alliance told the Financial Times that Tehran will require shipping companies to pay in cryptocurrency for the transportation of oil tankers through this strait.
The fee is 1 USD per barrel of oil; empty oil tankers may pass through for free.
In addition, each ship will be checked for weapons on board.
