The first generation of Telegram games (Notcoin, Hamster Kombat) proved distribution works. They had 50M+ users each.

Why I'm Building Create-to-Earn on Telegram (And You Should Pay Attention)

Notcoin proved Telegram can move 35M+ users in weeks.
Hamster Kombat went even further.
