In the heart of a misty old town nestled between fog-kissed hills, there lived an elderly clockmaker named Elior. He ran a humble little shop called Timeless Hands, filled with the soft ticking of hundreds of clocks. From golden pocket watches to towering grandfather clocks, each piece ticked with a soul of its own — or so the townspeople believed.
Elior had lived in the town longer than anyone could remember. His eyes were wise, and his hands steady despite his age. People said he could fix any timepiece — but he never let anyone behind the curtain of his workshop.
One rainy afternoon, a curious boy named Luka wandered into the shop, shivering in his soaked boots. He had broken his late father's pocket watch — the only thing he had left of him. With teary eyes, he held it out to Elior.
The old man studied it silently, then gave a rare smile. “This watch has more than time in it. It carries memory,” he said, and motioned for Luka to sit.
Hours passed. Elior worked with meticulous care, humming softly. Luka watched in awe. The gears were impossibly tiny, but Elior moved them with the precision of a magician. And then — tick — the watch came alive.
But before Luka could thank him, a strange thing happened.
The walls of the shop shimmered.
The clocks stopped ticking.
Time itself... paused.
Elior looked at Luka and said, “You have a gift. You felt the watch’s memory, didn’t you?”
Luka blinked. “I... I saw my dad. Smiling. It was like he was really there.”
Elior nodded solemnly. “This shop exists outside of time. Each clock holds a fragment of someone’s memory — a secret, a sorrow, a joy. I’ve been the Keeper for many years. But time... even mine... runs out.”
He reached into a drawer and pulled out a silver key. “You were meant to find me. Now, you must carry on the work.”
And just like that, the clocks ticked again. The air grew warm. The rain outside stopped.
Luka looked around — but Elior was gone.
Only the key remained.
