I wanted to write this in a simple way, not like those typical crypto posts full of hype and “this will 10x soon” stuff. Because honestly… that doesn’t help anyone.
So yeah, mainnet is almost here. And I’ve been thinking, what actually changes when Midnight finally goes live?
Right now $NIGHT is just… something you hold on Cardano. You can trade it, sure. Price moves up and down. But the real thing, the actual network, isn’t fully live yet.
When mainnet launches, that changes.
For the first time, the zero-knowledge stuff actually runs on a real chain. Not testnet. Real usage. DUST starts generating for holders automatically. And NIGHT becomes kind of… two sided. It exists on Cardano and Midnight both, but not in a confusing way. There’s a system behind it (still trying to fully understand that part tbh).
Developers can finally build real apps too. That part feels important but also… uncertain. Because building is one thing, people actually using those apps is another.
Now the part most people ignore.
There’s still a huge amount of tokens unlocking over time. A lot of people got them for free. Some will hold, yeah. But many will sell. That pressure doesn’t magically disappear just because mainnet launches.
Also, the network starts as federated. Meaning not fully decentralized yet. A few trusted operators are running things in the beginning. Some people don’t like that. I get why.
And one more thing… NIGHT still moves with Cardano. If ADA drops, NIGHT usually feels it too. That connection is still there.
But still… I keep watching this project.
Because the problem it’s trying to solve actually matters. Privacy vs transparency. No one really fixed that properly yet. Midnight is at least trying.
I’m not really watching price on day one. That’s always messy.
I’m watching what happens after. Do developers actually build? Do real use cases show up? Do partners actually use the network or just stay quiet?
That’s what will decide everything.
For now… I’m just observing. Not blindly bullish. Not bearish either. Just… paying attention.
