Tymoshenko released on bail of 765 thousand dollars $BTC
The Kyiv court considered the issue of the preventive measure concerning the former Prime Minister of Ukraine and leader of the Batkivshchyna party, Yulia Tymoshenko, who is involved in a case regarding the possible bribery of members of the Verkhovna Rada. Following the meeting, the court ruled to release her on bail in the amount of 33.3 million hryvnias, which is approximately equivalent to 765 thousand US dollars.
At the same time, the prosecution insisted on a stricter financial measure — a bail of 50 million hryvnias (about 1.4 million dollars), and also asked the court to impose a number of additional procedural restrictions on Tymoshenko. In particular, the prosecutor's office demanded that she be required to appear for every summons from the investigative authorities, not leave the borders of Kyiv and the Kyiv region without permission, timely notify of any change of residence or work, and also refrain from contacting persons who may be involved in the investigated case.
On the eve of the court's decision, Yulia Tymoshenko stated that her bank accounts had already been blocked, which effectively deprived her of the opportunity to independently pay the designated bail. In her social media, she emotionally commented on the situation, calling what was happening absurd. According to her, the paradox is that she intended to pay the bail for what she believes is a politically motivated case using funds previously received as compensation for political persecution, but this is impossible due to the prior blocking of accounts, which was done even before the court's decision.
Tymoshenko categorically denies all the accusations made against her and insists that the new criminal case is part of systematic political pressure, which she claims to have faced throughout her political career. January 13, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAP) reported the exposure of the leader of one of the parliamentary factions, suspected of corrupt activities. According to the investigation, this politician allegedly offered members of the Verkhovna Rada monetary rewards for voting 'for' or 'against' certain legislative proposals.
The very next day, the suspicion was officially handed to Yulia Tymoshenko as the head of the faction of the Batkivshchyna party in parliament. She is charged with offering unlawful benefits to an official (part 4 of article 369 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). If found guilty under this article, the former prime minister could face a punishment of imprisonment for a term of five to ten years.
