Trader Rai:
My question is: How do experienced investors decide whether to buy individual US stocks or simply invest in ETFs? What factors do you look at when choosing between the two, and how do you balance risk and long-term growth? #MyStocksQuestion

I've been investing in U.S. stocks and ETFs for nearly four years. Looking back, my biggest regret isn't buying the wrong stock—it's selling the right stock too early. Several times, I sold positions after a quick 20%-30% gain, only to watch them double or triple later. At the same time, I've also held losing positions for too long, hoping they would recover. This has made me realize that picking stocks may not be the hardest part of investing. Knowing when to sell might be even harder. For long-term investors, what specific signals tell you it's time to sell a U.S. stock that has performed well? Do you focus on valuation, fundamentals, portfolio allocation, or simply hold through volatility? #mystocksquestion

How can a Bangladeshi employee who can save 20,000–50,000 taka per month invest in US stocks and ETFs and create a small source of income after 10–15 years? I’ve been investing in US stocks and ETFs for a few years, mostly focusing on long term growth. Lately I’ve been wondering about something that doesn’t get discussed much. If passive ETFs continue attracting the majority of capital while active stock pickers become a smaller part of the market, at what point does price discovery become less efficient? Could there be a future where index flows themselves create valuation distortions that long term investors underestimate? I keep seeing money automatically flow into the biggest companies regardless of fundamentals, and I’m curious whether this becomes a hidden risk over the next decade or if the market naturally corrects for it. What are your thoughts? #MyStocksQuestion

If you were starting from zero today, would you still go into US stocks and ETFs immediately — or spend more time learning first, even if it meant missing out on years of market experience? Looking back, I sometimes feel I entered investing before I fully understood what I was doing. I opened a brokerage account and bought my first stocks mostly based on broker recommendations. After that, I started reading market news, buying investing books, and learning from more experienced investors along the way. The experience taught me a lot, but it also led to mistakes and losses that better preparation might have helped me avoid. If you could start over, would you prioritize learning first or getting real market experience as early as possible? #MyStocksQuestion

MH0za:
I'd probably spend some time learning first. As a beginner, I wouldn't feel comfortable putting money into something I don't understand yet. However, I might start investing a small amount while learning, just to gain some real market experience.
#mystocksquestion An investor with nearly four years of experience in U.S. stocks and ETFs reflects on their biggest investing regret: selling winning stocks too early for modest 20%–30% gains, while holding onto losing positions for too long. This experience highlights that knowing when to sell is often harder than picking stocks. To build a better strategy, they are seeking specific signals that long-term investors use to sell performing assets, wondering whether to focus on valuation, fundamentals, portfolio rebalancing, or simply holding through market volatility.

I would like to understand more about U.S. stocks and ETFs. What is the pricing mechanism behind these assets, and how can investors assess whether the current market price is fair? Also, for long-term investors, what tax obligations should be considered, including taxes on dividends, capital gains, or other investment-related income? #MyStocksQuestion

#MyStocksQuestion
Hajar1212:
stocks/ETFs are priced by supply and demand, while fair value is usually judged using fundamentals like earnings, growth, and valuation ratios. ETFs also track the value of their underlying assets. For taxes, investors mainly consider dividends tax and capital gains tax, which depend on profits and holding period, plus possible withholding taxes depending on location
I've been investing for a few months and often hear that ETFs are safer than individual stocks. If I have a limited amount of money to invest each month, how should I decide between putting everything into a broad market ETF or selecting a few high-growth U.S. stocks? What factors do experienced investors consider when making this choice? #MyStocksQuestion

I’ve been investing in US stocks for about 18 months, mostly sticking to big tech names like NVDA and AAPL. Lately, I’m trying to learn more about ETFs to diversify, but I get overwhelmed by the choices. For example, how do you decide between something like VOO (S&P 500) vs. a sector-specific ETF like QQQ or SMH? Is it better to start with broad market ETFs as a base, even if you already own individual stocks? #MyStocksQuestion

I have the same question. Maybe it's like in crypto, buy low and sell high?
Over the past year, I’ve been allocating part of my portfolio to US equities and ETFs, but I’m still refining my framework for decision-making. Currently, I combine macro trends (rates, liquidity, sector rotation) with narrative-driven entries, but I often struggle with position conviction and time horizon clarity. My question is: What is your structured approach to distinguishing between high-conviction long-term holdings and short-term tactical trades? Do you rely primarily on fundamentals (earnings quality, margins, cash flow), valuation models (DCF, multiples), or market-based signals (price action, volume, relative strength)? Also, how do you avoid overreacting to short-term volatility while holding long-term positions? Looking to learn from more experienced frameworks here. #MyStocksQuestion @binance_south_africa @Binance_Square_Official

Stocks vs ETFs: Which Is the Better Choice for Long Term Investors? As someone who started in crypto before exploring US stocks, I’ve noticed that one question keeps coming up Should I buy individual stocks or just invest through ETFs? At first, the answer seems obvious. Stocks offer the potential for bigger gains. If you identify a great company early, the upside can be significant. ETFs, on the other hand, spread your investment across many companies, reducing risk but also limiting the impact of any single winner. But the deeper question isn’t about potential returns. It’s about time, knowledge, and consistency. Many investors underestimate how much work goes into selecting and monitoring individual stocks. Understanding earnings reports, competitive advantages, valuation metrics, industry trends, and market sentiment requires ongoing research. Even strong companies can underperform if expectations become too high. ETFs solve a different problem. Instead of trying to identify tomorrow’s winners, they allow investors to gain exposure to an entire sector, index, or theme. Rather than betting on one company, you’re investing in a broader trend. This is why many long term investors prefer ETFs. They provide diversification, require less maintenance, and reduce the risk of making emotional decisions based on short term news. That said, individual stocks still have a place. For investors who enjoy research and have strong conviction in specific businesses, allocating a portion of a portfolio to stocks can make sense while keeping the core position in diversified ETFs. Personally, I’m still learning how to balance the two approaches. The challenge isn’t deciding which is objectively better. It’s figuring out which strategy fits your goals, risk tolerance, and available time. For investors with a long term horizon and limited time to research, how do you decide when to buy an individual stock versus simply investing in an ETF? #MyStocksQuestion $LAB $SENTIS $EPT {alpha}(560x3dc8e2d80b6215a1bccae4d38715c3520581e77c)

Stocks vs ETFs: Which Is the Better Choice for Long Term Investors?

As someone who started in crypto before exploring US stocks, I’ve noticed that one question keeps coming up
Should I buy individual stocks or just invest through ETFs?

Mattie_Ethan:
ETFs build consistency and diversification, while individual stocks reward conviction and research.
I've mostly focused on crypto over the past couple of years, so the launch of US stocks and ETFs on Binance got me curious. One thing I've always wondered is this: Sometimes a company can have strong products, a loyal customer base, and positive news, yet its stock barely moves or even declines. Meanwhile, another company seems to surge despite mixed opinions from investors. For those with more experience in stocks, what factors matter most when deciding whether a stock deserves a place in your long-term portfolio? I'd love to learn how you separate a genuinely strong company from a stock that's simply popular at the moment. #MyStocksQuestion

Activity Period: 2026-06-04 09:30 (UTC) - 2026-06-12 23:59 (UTC)
How to Participate:
There are two ways to join the activity. Participants can either pick one, or to join both.
Option 1: Ask a Question
Publish a post with #MyStocksQuestion on Binance Square and ask any question you have about US stocks and/or ETFs. It can be about trading strategies, market trends, how to pick a stock, or even what ETFs are.
Format: Ask your question related to US stocks and/or ETFs in English, with the hashtag #MyStocksQuestion Example:How do you decide which US stocks to hold long-term vs. which ones to trade short-term? I've been buying based on news but I'm not sure if that's a good strategy. #MyStocksQuestion
Dos & Don’ts:Dos: Be personal and ask questions related to your own experience.Share a real question you have about US stocks and/or ETFs, something you have been wondering about.Give a bit of context, such as how long you've been investing, what your approach is, what's tripping you up.Use hashtag #MyStocksQuestion and ask the question in English.Don’ts: Don't beg for likes or replies.Don’t use Red Packets or similar giveaways to farm replies.Don’t include irrelevant content to farm views or stray from US stocks and ETFs.Don’t edit previously published posts with high engagement to repurpose them for this activity
Option 2: Answer a Question
Browse the questions on the topic page of #MyStocksQuestion on Binance Square (i.e. https://www.binance.com/en/square/hashtag/mystocksquestion), find one you can answer, and contribute your answer to the question in the comment of the question post.
Format:Leave your answer in English in the comment of the question post directly.Example:[In the comment of the question post] Great question! I use a simple rule — if I believe the company will still be growing in 5 years, it goes into my long-term portfolio. If it's riding a short-term trend like earnings season hype, I trade it. News alone isn't enough — look at fundamentals like revenue growth and profit margins.
Dos & Don’ts:Dos: Head to the #MyStocksQuestion topic page, find a question you actually have an answer to.Reply in the comments of that post in English, not as a new post.Answer from your own experience, such as what you've tried, what worked, what didn't.Share your original takes, not textbook definitions, pure AI text or plagiarized text.Don’ts: Don't beg for likes or comments.Don’t use Red Packets or similar giveaways to farm engagement.Comments posted using @Binance BiBi will not be counted.Suspected spam, or artificially inflated comment, or the use of AI bot will be disqualified from the activity.

#mystocksquestion I’ve been exploring US stocks for a while, but still figuring out my strategy. Right now, I mostly buy based on hype, news, and social sentiment — sometimes it works, but other times I end up exiting too early or holding too long. My question is: How do you actually identify a strong long-term stock vs just a short-term hype play? Do you focus more on fundamentals (like earnings, revenue growth) or market trends and narratives? Would really appreciate insights from experienced investors here 🙏 #MyStocksQuestion

#MyStocksQuestion As a business student navigating the markets, I’ve been closely tracking macroeconomic trends, but translating that macro perspective into choosing specific equities is proving to be a challenge. Right now, my strategy relies heavily on reacting to breaking financial news and earnings reports to find entries. However, this approach feels highly reactive, and I often worry I'm just chasing momentum rather than building a sustainable portfolio. For someone looking to balance a long-term foundational portfolio with selective short-term trades, how do you effectively separate the "noise" of daily news from actual underlying value? What metrics or frameworks do you trust most when deciding which US stocks to lock in for the long haul versus those better suited for short-term swing trading?

I've been investing in crypto for a few years, but recently I've started exploring US stocks and ETFs as a way to diversify my portfolio and build long-term wealth. One thing I've noticed is that many of the biggest opportunities only seem obvious in hindsight. Companies that later become market leaders often look risky, expensive, or uninteresting before they explode in value. 🧠 Imagine it's 2035. Looking back, what US stock or ETF bought in 2025 would make investors say: "The opportunity was obvious, but almost nobody saw it." What trend do you believe the market is still underestimating today? AI, robotics, cybersecurity, healthcare innovation, quantum computing, or something else entirely? I'd love to hear your highest-conviction idea and the reasoning behind it. #MyStocksQuestion

For most of my market journey, I've been focused on crypto. The environment is fast, narratives change overnight, and capital can rotate from one sector to another in a matter of hours. I've become comfortable navigating volatility, managing exposure, and reacting quickly when conditions shift. Now I'm spending more time looking at US stocks, and the mindset feels completely different. Many successful equity investors seem less concerned with what happens this week and more focused on where a company could be three, five, or even ten years from now. What I'm struggling with is filtering information efficiently. There are thousands of public companies, countless financial ratios, earnings reports every quarter, and an endless stream of opinions from analysts and media outlets. It can feel difficult to separate what's important from what's just noise. For those who actively invest in equities, how did you build a process for evaluating businesses without getting buried in research? What are the first few things you look for before deciding a company deserves deeper attention? Curious to hear how experienced stock investors approach this and what lessons a crypto trader should learn early. #MyStocksQuestion

Great businesses compound quietly; focus on fundamentals, not daily headlines.
I’ve been investing in US stocks for about 2 years, focusing mainly on core index funds for long-term growth. However, what’s tripping me up right now is the heavy tech concentration in standard S&P 500 ETFs due to the ongoing AI hype. I want to balance my risk, so I'm considering adding Equal-Weight ETFs to my portfolio. At what point does concentration risk trigger a structural shift where equal-weight ETFs begin to significantly outperform, and how should a long-term investor transition between them? #MyStocksQuestion

How can a typical Bangladeshi investor build a simple and balanced portfolio if he wants to start investing regularly in US stocks and ETFs from his monthly savings? For example, what proportion of investment should be made between broad market ETFs, a few stable dividend stocks, and growth ETFs to keep risk low and yield good returns in the long run? #MyStocksQuestion
