When many people hear NIGHT, their first reaction is quite simple:

Oh, ADA is also starting to develop a privacy public chain.

Then it automatically translates in my mind into a sentence:

Another new chain has emerged, and another new coin has been added.

But to be honest, the more I look at Midnight these days, the more I feel that if you only understand it as 'Cardano's privacy branch', that is a bit of an underestimate.

Because the truly interesting part might not be the two words 'privacy' at all.

But rather, it is likely the first substantial expansion move for ADA in many years.

You can think of this as an old-fashioned factory that has been focused on making parts.

The craftsmanship is excellent.

Quality control is stable.

Few errors.

But the market didn't buy it.

While others are focusing on creating blockbuster products, marketing, and building end-user brands, it's still saying, "Our underlying structure is very solid."

Doesn't this look a lot like Cardano from recent years?

Technically, it's not bad.

The node system is also stable.

However, market sentiment has remained low.

It's not that it has nothing, but rather that its most valuable asset is precisely the least suitable for the bull market strategy.

So when Midnight came out, my first thought wasn't "just another chain".

On the contrary, I think:

ADA has finally started to use its seemingly cumbersome past accumulations to fight in new battlegrounds.

Many people are now focusing on the label "privacy public blockchain".

But the privacy issue is nothing new.

There have been many projects discussing privacy in recent years, even more about ZooKeeper, and a ton of projects about compliant privacy, data isolation, and confidential computing.

So if NIGHT is just "another privacy story," then it's not surprising.

What truly makes it worthy of my attention is the way it started this chain.

Midnight did not use the laziest method for cold start.

It doesn't simply mean that "whoever holds more NIGHT has an easier time accessing the consensus layer."

Instead, it looks at the amount of ADA you stake on Cardano.

Many people may not have noticed this design at first.

But I think that's precisely where its intelligence lies.

What are new blockchains most afraid of?

It's not that no one praises you.

When a baby is first born, its safety is not guaranteed at all.

If a new blockchain selects block producers based on their token holdings early on, the result is usually quite simple:

Whoever has money is more likely to obtain the right to produce blocks.

Whoever accumulates chips first is more likely to gain control.

Especially when a new blockchain is first launched, circulation is shallow, and tokens are concentrated, this design may seem fair, but it is actually very fragile.

Midnight didn't do that.

It directly borrows Cardano's SPO credit system, which has been in place for many years.

To put it simply:

Since you don't have a resume for the new company, I'll look at how well you performed at your previous company.

This logic is particularly realistic.

While Cardano has been criticized for being slow in recent years, it has one thing that many new projects lack—

It has a group of node operators who have been running for many years.

This group of people has an online presence.

Has experience in system maintenance.

It has the trust of the community.

More importantly, there are real interests at stake in ADA.

So Midnight isn't riding on ADA's coattails.

It leverages the historical credibility that ADA has accumulated over many years.

This was its biggest source of confidence in its early days.

There's another point that I think the market will gradually realize later.

If NIGHT succeeds, it will bring more than just "an additional chain"; it will reopen up the valuation imagination for ADA.

Why do I say that?

In the past, many people viewed ADA as a relatively closed system.

It's stable, but the sense of growth isn't strong.

They can defend, but they don't seem like they'd actively attack.

Once Midnight is established, this impression will change.

It's equivalent to telling the market:

Cardano is not just about its own main chain; it can also export its security system, node reputation, and long-term accumulation to new narratives.

This is very important.

Because once the market begins to accept this logic, ADA's role will no longer be just that of an "old blockchain token," but more like:

An underlying asset that can provide credit backing for a new network.

Once this identity changes, the possibilities for imagination become completely different.

Of course, I don't want to exaggerate it too much.

NIGHT's biggest selling point right now is that they are indeed very strong.

But the biggest risk is also clear.

that is:

Being a good student on Cardano doesn't mean you'll be just as diligent on Midnight.

A high ADA pledged amount only proves that you were reliable in the past.

It cannot be proven whether you will seriously maintain the new chain.

Especially in the early stages, if the subsidies are high, some people may register first, reserve their spots, and claim the rewards first, so they may not pay as much attention to maintenance.

Therefore, what Midnight really needs to prove is not "whether anyone came," but rather:

Are the people who come actually working diligently?

If this problem is not handled properly, its potential will be limited.

Even so, I still think that $NIGHT deserves close attention.

Because nowadays too many projects are only thinking about how to become popular.

Midnight, at least think about it first:

How to live.

If it can truly bring out Cardano's least sexy, but most valuable, assets over the years—

Trustworthy, stable, resilient, and with strong node reputation.

If NIGHT successfully migrates to a privacy blockchain, then it might not be just another ordinary new coin story.

It's more like:

ADA has finally turned its most old-school advantage into a truly effective weapon for the next stage.

That's why I think it's worth watching.
