Short the Bottom

Last time Jerome Powell spoke, his dovish tone sent markets into several sharp pumps. Bots picked up keywords like “progress” and “inflation moving down”, and risk assets – especially crypto – exploded in minutes.
But here’s the catch for the September FOMC:
A 25 bps cut is already priced in. Markets have been expecting it for weeks.
For another real pump to happen, Powell needs to sound even more dovish than expected – hinting at more cuts ahead this year.
If Powell stays neutral, or worse, hawkish → expect volatility, but upside may fade quickly.
🚨 Why short setups may be smarter this time:
Pump moves are likely to be short-lived because the “cut” narrative is old news.
If Powell disappoints, BTC/ETH could dump fast with cascading liquidations on overleveraged longs.
BTC usually reacts first, but ETH is more vulnerable: higher leverage in perps = stronger downside whipsaws.
⚡️ Scenarios:
Dovish surprise → short squeeze, but be ready: after the first spike, profit-taking could send prices back down.
Neutral/hawkish → straight-up dump, best reward for shorters.
Base case 25 bps cut → initial volatility, then sideways-to-down as traders realize “nothing new.”
👉 Keep eyes on: DXY, Treasury yields, and funding rates. If funding spikes positive, it’s often a trap for late longs.
