BlockBeats news, on December 20, according to Ember monitoring, a certain whale/institution withdrew 50 million USDT from Binance 10 hours ago and then tested a transfer of 50 USDT to the address they planned to transfer to.
The phishing attacker generated an address with the same first and last 3 digits and transferred 0.005 USDT to it. Then the whale either copied the address directly from the recent transaction records when making the official transfer, resulting in the entire 50 million USDT being transferred to the similarly generated address by the phishing attacker. The attacker quickly converted the 50 million USDT into DAI (to prevent freezing) and then bought a total of 16,624 ETH. Subsequently, all these ETH were washed away through Tornado.
