😲 North Korean hackers stole a record $2 billion in cryptocurrencies this year
North Korean hackers stole a record $2 billion in cryptocurrencies this year, which is a sharp increase compared to 2024, - writes Bloomberg citing a report from blockchain analytics firm Chainalysis Inc.
It is noted that a significant portion of the total amount comes from the largest digital heist in cryptocurrency history in February, when North Korean hackers stole $1.5 billion from the cryptocurrency exchange Bybit.
This incident helped increase North Korea's estimated "crypto trophies" to $6.75 billion since records began.
The study showed that cryptocurrency thefts increased by more than 50% compared to last year, accounting for the lion's share of approximately $3.4 billion stolen in the cryptocurrency industry from January to early December. $BTC $ETH $SOL
