The CEO of Maple Finance, Sid Powell, stated that decentralized finance in its current form is "dead." In his opinion, blockchain is becoming the foundational infrastructure for the entire capital market, and the distinction between #DeFi and traditional finance is gradually disappearing.
In an interview with CoinDesk, Powell explained that this is not about the decline of on-chain finance, but about the transformation of its role. According to him, in a few years, institutional investors will stop distinguishing between DeFi and #TradFi , as all market activity will occur on the blockchain.
By analogy with how the internet became a universal infrastructure for e-commerce, blockchain, as Powell noted, will become the technological layer for global finance. He expects that debt capital markets, including private lending, mortgages, and secured assets, will increasingly move to the on-chain environment.
And what do you think? Is there a future for DeFi?
