What kept bothering me on Newton wasn't the Rego policy.
It was how clean Newton rule looked after everybody buried the mess in inputs.
Fine.
Because the policy text can be sharp. Very sharp. Rego policy says yes or no. Newton protocol's Gateway takes the transaction intent. Operator network runs it. Aggregate signature comes back. Before execution. Lovely. Newton did exact job it was handed.
That was problem.
ugly part was already upstream. Classification. Input fields.Which wallet got tagged what? Which Newton registry field got treated like fact? Good...Which source got pulled in? Which messy thing got cleaned up just enough for Rego to swallow it?
I know that trick.
The rule looks strict.
setup doesn't.
Newton Protocol only sees what reached rule.
Then Newton desk starts borrowing cover from the clean part. Policy passed. Or blocked. Fine. Either way exactness of the rule starts making input framing look cleaner than it was. Like Newton's PolicyFactory gave discipline to the whole path. Like PolicyClientRegistry somehow washed ambiguity out of the fields before the operator result ever came back. whatever.
Ops already treats the input sorting like settled.
Convenient little cleanup.
No. Not quite.
Later compliance wants exact Newton rule path. Which input? Which classification? Which registry state? Okay...Which operator result? Which @NewtonProtocol Rego evaluation. Which part actually got enforced before execution, and which part was just soft human sorting work dressed up early enough to survive as machine input?
Little late.
I've seen that Newton pass get treated like sorting never happened.
once capital already moved, strict part gets all the respect. fuzzy part gets archived as setup. Newton enforced rule it was given. Good. Great even. Newton protocol never blessed input sorting that made Newton pass look clean.
Rotten little trade.
