The Kelp DAO hack wasn't just a single protocol breach…
It was a stark reminder that the entire DeFi ecosystem is interconnected.
The attacker exploited the LayerZero bridge, withdrawing 116,500 $rsETH (approximately $290 million) and then using it as collateral in Aave V3 to borrow $ETH and stablecoins.
Herein lay the real problem: rsETH became virtually illiquid after Kelp suspended contracts, but the actual debt on Aave remained.
In short: A single mistake at the top layer was enough to cripple Kelp, immediately reach Aave, scare lenders, and shake the very foundations of $AAVE.
