The Guwahati Youth Congress filed an FIR on June 30, 2025, against Assam's cabinet minister Jayant Mallabaruah, alleging misuse of funds for government purchase of goats and cows under the Gorukhuti Agricultural Project. The FIR alleges that out of 300 goats and cows purchased during the 2022-23 fiscal year, 20 cows were sold to JMBAKUA Private Limited at a cost of 13.2 lakh rupees—a company linked to the minister's wife—and that the company also gained more than 50 lakh rupees from the state dairy subsidy. The Youth Congress has called for an impartial investigation, forensic audit, and possible CBI or vigilance inquiry by invoking sections under the IPC and Prevention of Corruption Act.
