Tom Wan, Head of the Data Department at Entropy Advisors, stated on social media that despite the exponential rise in the average price of Blob gas after the Fusaka upgrade (most of the time it remained at 1 wei), the base Blob fees are still at a very low level, around $0.03.
Additionally, another advantage of this EIP proposal is: stronger predictability of Blob pricing and less volatility, making it easier for L2 projects and institutions to estimate costs.

a rollup w/ fees are dominated by L2 gas behave ~ alt L1 using a similar tech stack. so if blob costs (and associated L1 portion) remain low, expect OP/arb to have similar fee markets to evm alt L1s

#ArbOS Atlas is also introducing significant reductions in other fees for Arbitrum One, and is expected to be activated by March 18:

 L1 surplus fee. Reduce the surplus fee per compressed byte from 32 gwei to 0.

2️⃣
 L2 base fee. Reduce the minimum from 0.1 gwei to 0.01 gwei.

What does this mean for Applications?

Applications on Arbitrum One will not have to be modified or take any explicit action to get the benefits of using EIP-4844 (i.e. the whole chain opts-in with ArbOS 20 “Atlas”).117456

 What does this mean for Orbit chains?

 L3 Rollup chains on top of Arbitrum One will see lower fees. No additional action is required.

2️⃣
 Self-governed Orbit L2 rollup chains must deploy ArbOS Atlas and also switch on #blob posting.

If Ethereum ($ETH ) manages to close the week above the level of $4,500, the next target ranges between $4,800 and $5,200. With the introduction of update #Fusaka and an increase in capacity #Blob in December and January, we may observe an additional rise towards $5,800 to $6,200.

On August 27, the network reached the storage limit of blobs per block, a key resource for scaling transactions.

Blobs are structures that allow L2s to store information off the base layer.

A sustained increase in the number of available blobs could raise fees on L2s.
