BitMine Immersion Technologies has bought another 373,110 ether, worth around $1.62 billion, bringing its total stash to about 1.52 million ether valued at $6.6 billion. This latest buy follows two earlier purchases in August—one for $575 million and another for $470 million—based on company filings and blockchain data.
With this move, BitMine now owns just over 1% of all ether in circulation, making it the biggest corporate holder of ETH globally. The company also holds 192 bitcoin, putting its overall crypto reserves second among public firms, behind only Strategy Inc., which has a much larger bitcoin holding.
Chairman Thomas Lee said BitMine started building its ether position on June 30 and plans to raise more funds to eventually hold up to 5% of all ether. He also noted that BitMine’s stock (BMNR) sees about $6.4 billion in daily trading volume, ranking it among the ten most actively traded stocks in the U.S.
