CME partners with FanDuel: The prediction market craze is about to explode
#CMEGroup – the largest derivatives exchange in the world – has just announced a partnership with FanDuel, the leading sports betting platform in the U.S., to launch event contracts.
This platform allows everyday users to bet in a “yes/no” format on the movements of various indices and assets, with a participation level starting from 1 USD. The anticipated categories include:
Indices: S&P 500, Nasdaq-100
Commodities: oil, gas, gold
Crypto: Bitcoin, Ethereum
Macroeconomics: GDP, CPI, and many other data
The contracts will be operated through a new derivatives brokerage firm, co-managed by CME and
#FanDuel , and listed on CME's regulated exchange. The platform is expected to go live by the end of this year, after receiving approval from the CFTC.
According to CME CEO Terry Duffy, this product will attract a new generation of traders who are not familiar with traditional derivatives. Meanwhile, FanDuel CEO Amy Howe emphasized that the project provides an experience that combines entertainment betting and financial investment, while still ensuring compliance standards and consumer protection.
👉 If approved, this could be the biggest step forward in making the prediction market a mainstream trend in the U.S., with crypto also being viewed as a standard benchmark alongside securities and commodities.
