The Rhysida Ransomware hacking group is reported to be selling sensitive data stolen from the Maryland Department of Transportation for 30 Bitcoin ($BTC ), equivalent to approximately 3.4 million USD. The auction is set to take place over seven days, targeting a single buyer.
Damage and Stolen Data
The incident has been confirmed as a data breach related to unauthorized access to the systems of the Transportation Authority #Maryland . According to information from the underground market, the hacking group claims to have stolen sensitive personal data, including social security numbers, addresses, dates of birth, and other identifying information of state employees and users.
The Maryland Department of Transportation has advised employees and users to take immediate precautions such as updating passwords and enabling two-factor authentication. The investigation into this attack is still ongoing.

The Rhysida group has been active since 2023, primarily targeting government, healthcare, education, and technology sectors. This group frequently threatens to publish data if ransom is not paid and requires victims to pay in Bitcoin due to its higher anonymity compared to traditional methods.
