(In Sapa: at a motorbike rental shop / for booking Fansipan Online Ticket / at food stalls and restaurants in Sapa / one Grab Taxi driver also didn't have change, so I could pay via QR. In Hanoi, I only had time to try it at one coffee shop.)
✅ Most shops in Vietnam use VietQR. From my practical experience—
At shops run directly by the owner,
Shops where they easily notice the payment notification,
And shops with POS system payment integration,
the transaction was pretty smooth.
⚠️ However, at shops where staff save QR codes using screenshots, I faced a bit of difficulty because the Paid UI (user interface) wasn't what they were used to seeing. It sometimes got complicated, needing to make phone calls to check if the payment went through.
