NASA's Artemis II astronauts have released the first flyby images of the moon during their historic test flight, showcasing areas of the moon that no human has seen before, including a rare view of a solar eclipse in space. Released on Tuesday, the astronauts captured these images during a seven-hour flyby outside the moon's orbit on April 6, which are nothing short of treasures that generations will benefit from.

NASA astronauts Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch, and Canadian Space Agency astronaut Jeremy Hansen took thousands of images, of which the agency released several; the Orion spacecraft is now more than halfway through its journey and is returning to Earth.

These 15 images are historic snapshots of humanity's return to the moon after 53 years.
