#USConsumerConfidenceУ resulted for the first time in six months. The University of Michigan's consumer sentiment index fell to 71.1 from 73.2 in December, below economists' expectations. The decline reflected concerns about the labor market and the potential for price increases due to President Donald Trump's proposed tariffs on imports. 
In addition, inflation expectations for the coming year rose to 3.3% in January from 2.8% in December, the highest level since May. Long-term inflation expectations also rose to 3.3%, reaching a level not seen since June 2008. The changes are related to concerns about the possible impact of tariff policies on prices.
