Field Marshal Asim Munir has assumed the position of Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defense Forces
Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir has formally assumed the position of Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defense Forces today under the Pakistan Army Amendment Bill 2025. According to the new legislation, the Army Chief will now also serve as Chief of Defense Forces for a period of five years, with responsibilities determined by the federal government, including multi-domain integration and joint communication among the three armed forces. Under the amendment, the position of Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee has been abolished, and in its place, a new position of Commander National Strategic Command has been established, which will be appointed for three years on the recommendation of COAS/CDF.
