The Unseen Effects of Trump’s Trade Policy  Viewed By 98 December 4, 2025 Maritime News, Trump's Tariffs By Associate Editor President Donald Trump’s return to the White House in 2025 marks the beginning of a transformative tariff policy that extends well beyond immediate effects on consumer prices. This tariff regime resembles an iceberg: while the visible effects—such as price increases and increased federal tax revenue—are clear, the underlying structural changes in global trade dynamics are far more complex and significant. ### Visible Effects The most stark impact of these tariffs is felt by American consumers and businesses. Estimated to raise federal tax revenues by $161 billion, Trump’s tariffs represent the largest tax increase since 1993, translating to an average tax hike of $1,300 to $2,400 per household. Taiwan Eyes First Regulated Stablecoin Launch by Mid-2026 — Gamechanger for Asian Crypto Taiwan’s financial regulator says the country could see its first domestically issued, regulated stablecoin as early as mid-2026, once the new Virtual Assets Service Act passes. Under the draft framework, only licensed financial institutions will be allowed to mint the stablecoin in the initial phase — with full-reserve backing, strict reserve audits and clear compliance standards. The token could be pegged to New Taiwan Dollar or possibly USD; regulators say peg decision, reserve rules and investor-protection mechanisms remain under discussion. If launched, this stablecoin could usher in a regulated on-chain payment and remittance infrastructure across Taiwan — and position the island as a major stablecoin-friendly hub in Asia. #CryptoNewss #taiwan #Stablecoin #DigitalAssets

Taiwan is nearing entry into the world of stablecoins with a move considered one of the largest in its financial history, as Financial Supervisory Commission Chairman Ping Jin-Lun revealed that the country may launch its first local stablecoin in the second half of 2026. The currency may be pegged either to the New Taiwan Dollar or the US Dollar, reflecting a serious commitment to supporting financial innovation and expanding the use of digital assets within a regulated framework. This step is a strong indicator of the expansion of Asian economies in adopting digital solutions safely and transparently. #CryptoNews #Taiwan #Stablecoin #blockchain #CryptoUpdate

If China takes Taiwan, what happens to the chip sector? Today I wanted to draw a slightly doomsday scenario. The China Taiwan issue is something I actually expect to escalate around 2027, possibly even during 2027 itself. If Taiwan joins China, what would this mean for the global chip industry and overall economic stability? First, let’s look at the projected global chip production shares for 2032: China: %21 South Korea: %19 Taiwan: %17 Japan: %15 USA: %14 Europe: %8 If Taiwan were to be absorbed into China, these percentages and the overall balance would shift dramatically. Even though Trump wants to isolate China, it may be too late in some areas. If this scenario happens if China effectively burns the ships any major disruption to TSMC’s operations would bring the global technology segment to a near standstill. Companies like Apple, Nvidia, and AMD would be hit severely. A global crisis could be closer than ever. Chip production outside Taiwan, such as Intel’s, would become crucial just to maintain a minimum level of supply. But it still wouldn’t be enough. Time will tell what happens next. #chip #china #taiwan

China’s $9B Economic Coup – No Shots Fired For linking Taiwan to Japan’s future, Japan’s leader provoked Beijing’s economic reprisal. No missiles — just travel bans, route cuts, and spending slashed. What happened? Flights & Tourism: 491K airline seats cut; 12 routes axed; December capacity down 20%. Bookings cratered to ~12% of normal. Chinese tourists are 30% of Japan’s foreign visitor spending – this squeeze costs ~$1.2B by year-end (heading toward $9B by 2026). Trade Shock: $292B bilateral trade; Japan’s $42.5B deficit is Beijing’s leverage. China 🇨🇳 is Japan’s #1 partner; Japan is only China’s #3. This imbalance is now weaponized. Maritime Pressure: A record 1,351 Chinese vessels prowled near the disputed Senkaku Islands in 2024 (42 intrusions). Japan has now armed all coast guard ships with 76mm guns. Why it matters? Diplomatic Test: Xi told Trump, “Taiwan’s return is integral to the postwar order.” Trump’s official readout? Silent on Taiwan. Japan bet its biggest security shift in 80 years on U.S. backing — and got none. New Rules: Economic strangulation + gray-zone coercion = results. No shots fired, no treaties invoked, yet strategic goals achieved. Takeaway Asia’s capitals and markets are scrambling. Interdependence is not deterrence anymore — it’s a weapon. Japan is rewriting its risk models. Stay tuned. $BTC #China #Japan #Taiwan #EconomicWarfare #CryptoInsights
