Open Interest spikes but momentum stalls – SOL trade recap

Entered this $SOL long after seeing the OI spike and bullish calls for a run at 80k on the chart. My entry logic was based on price holding above the MA(7) at $85.87 and MA(30) at $84.99, with RSI at 53 showing room to run. The MACD had just crossed, which added some confirmation.

Result: Small loss. Stopped out as momentum faded.

What failed: The setup looked clean, but the broader market context shifted. The MACD histogram started contracting right after entry, and volume didn’t support the breakout. The OI spike was real, but it turned into a liquidity grab rather than a sustained push.

Lesson: Don’t trade OI spikes in isolation—watch for actual volume confirmation and tighter entries near the moving averages. Also, respect that 200 MA overhead at $155 is a psychological magnet, but it also creates resistance layers on the way up.

Today, when I entered the XRP market, it was still falling...

There were three consolidations. I opened a short position at the end of the third one, and then there was a very beautiful waterfall.

There were 5 retracements during the period, but they were all very short, as if they could not stand at all.

Finally, it stopped at 0.5427. A small but powerful and lovely cross star ended the decline. Then, the trend turned up and kept tracing back to the highest point of 0.5641 at the beginning of the decline, which was very beautiful.
