The Cardano Foundation’s account on the X platform was hacked on Sunday by an unknown party, with false announcements being posted that a fake digital representative bearing the Cardano brand was being launched on the Solana network, as well as a false claim that the Securities and Exchange Commission had filed a lawsuit against the company.
The hacked account was first used to tweet that claimed to launch a new digital asset called $ADASOL, describing it as an improved version of Cardano built on the Solana network with greater speed and innovation.
Surprisingly, this was a more sophisticated scam than usual, involving a carefully crafted marketing campaign that included thirteen detailed posts, with links to trusted sites like the official Cardano Foundation website and popular podcast episodes that claimed to discuss this digital actor.
According to data from DexScreener, the fake digital actor's trading volume reached more than half a million dollars before traders discovered his true identity.

An hour after the first false post was published, the hackers increased their efforts to manipulate public opinion by publishing another fake notice claiming that the Cardano Foundation was facing a lawsuit from the Securities and Exchange Commission. The notice claimed that the foundation had decided, as a result of this alleged legal action, to immediately stop supporting the $ADA digital representative.
Despite repeated warnings that it had been hacked, the fake post on the X platform garnered over 256,000 views before comments were disabled. After a team leader at the Cardano Foundation confirmed the hack, the foundation issued an official statement reassuring users that the hack was limited to the X account and did not affect any of Cardano’s other systems or services.
The statement indicated that the organization's team is working intensively to regain control of the account, and that they will announce the recovery of the account via their official LinkedIn page. The organization urged its community to be cautious and not to respond to any unofficial messages or requests.
