New York City has just filed a lawsuit against President Donald Trump in court over $80 million that was directly seized by the federal government from its bank account through the D.O.G.E. agency. The city government stated that FEMA, backed by other federal agencies, confiscated the funds without warning on February 11. The money was intended to cover the costs of housing migrants after the Department of Homeland Security processed and released non-citizen immigrants into the city.

The lawsuit, filed in Manhattan federal court, calls it an "unlawful seizure of funds" and demands the return of the money. The city also wants the court to completely overturn FEMA’s actions. Meanwhile, the Trump administration is reportedly pushing forward with its D.O.G.E. initiative, led by Elon Musk, which slashes federal spending, cuts agencies, and mass-terminates government employees deemed unnecessary.
