According to security watchdog PeckShield, the hacker pulled off a classic cryptocurrency heist. First, he got hold of a private key, then extracted $49.5 million worth of USDC in two batches: $11.4 million + $38 million $USDC . What came next? The stolen funds were quickly exchanged into DAI, funneled through the infamous Tornado Cash (just because!), converted to $ETH, and stored in a new wallet.
The best (or worst) part? A keen-eyed community member noticed the suspicious transactions and raised the alarm on#PeckShieldAlertand the Infini security team tracked down the hacker’s footprints. The unthinkable happened – an inside job! Allegedly, an engineer was behind the whole scheme. PekShieldAlert also shared the exchange information and the hack flow on their official X account.
