More than 162 thousand taxpayers have already submitted their Individual Income Tax (IRPF) 2025, calendar year 2024. The deadline for submission ends on May 30, and the government's expectation is to receive 46.2 million declarations.

New IR 2025 Rules

The new rules this year include an increase in the ceiling for taxable income and the obligation to declare profits and crypto income abroad.

Filipe Bandeira, lawyer and accountant at Fonteles & Associates, emphasizes that in the 2025 Income Tax declaration, income from abroad must be reported on a separate form, and the tax paid by May 30. He also highlights that taxpayers can reduce the amount owed through legal deductions, such as medical expenses, education, and retirement, and that exemptions include profits and dividends, among others.
