What is a Stop Loss Order?

A stop loss order is an instruction given to the broker to sell (or buy) a financial asset when it reaches a predetermined price, aiming to limit losses in case the market moves against your position. For example, if you bought a stock at $100 and set a stop loss order at $95, the stock will be automatically sold if the price falls to $95, limiting your loss to 5%.
