Former Binance CEO Zhao Changpeng (CZ) suddenly introduced the story of his dog Broccoli, sparking a wave of meme coins named after his pet.
CZ revealed that the story of owning a dog began a year and a half ago when he was chatting with a friend who owns a zoo in Dubai, asking about dog breeds suitable for the local hot weather. That evening, the friend sent over a young Belgian Malinois, along with its passport.
Zhao Changpeng stated that he wanted to name the dog something that starts with 'B' and has a green connotation, so he chose 'Broccoli'. He also jokingly said that the name sounds a lot like 'Blockchain', and 'sure enough, I can't escape cryptocurrency.'
