The contract has a very important hidden cost, especially for newly listed cryptocurrencies.
This is called the "Funding Rate."
If the rate is negative, the short sellers have to pay.
If the rate is positive, the long buyers have to pay.
Typically, the basic value is every 8 hours, corresponding to Beijing time 08:00, 16:00, 00:00.
However, Binance has a rule: when the funding rate reaches its limit (usually around ±2%), it only takes one occurrence for the subsequent hours to switch to a deduction every hour.
When there are many short sellers for a new coin, the funding rate will enter an outrageous situation of once per hour after crossing 00:00.
If you don't understand this part, you might open a position and earn 1.5% in real profits, which seems significant, but if the funding rate hits you for a 2% loss, you end up giving 0.5% to the long buyers.
